Free e-book chapter on ASP.NET MVC Framework

If you’re into ASP.NET MVC then you should definitely check out this free chapter from the upcoming Wrox book Professional ASP.NET MVC 1.0. The chapter is a 185 page long tutorial on how to build a complete web application with the Framework.

The ASP.NET MVC Framework is still in beta (RC2) but is going to ship any day now. That’s good for me since I’ve built a web application with it that will go live pretty soon.

ASP.NET MVC and JSON

In the AJAX community, JSON have become the preferred way of sending and receiving data. That’s not surprising since it’s lightweight, fast and easy to understand. Also, since it’s a subset of Javascript, it’s familiar territory for Javascript coders.

In the ASP.NET MVC Framework, passing JSON from the server to the client script is almost too easy. In this article I will walk you through the code required to make it work.

ASP.NET MVC Preview Release 4

Microsoft ASP.NETTo my delight I noticed that during my vacation the ASP.NET MVC Preview Release 4 have been released. This is nice since I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this framework for a project I’m currently working on.

The MVC framework certainly solves a lot of the issues I have with ASP.NET and actually makes it possible to create standard compliant websites without having to bend over backwards with all the awkward quirks of the ASP.NET Web Forms model.
